About Me
I design the guidance, navigation, and control that gets spacecraft where they need to go. At Varda Space Industries in Los Angeles, that means GNC for our reentry capsules: shaping their trajectories, running the Monte Carlo campaigns that stress-test them, and flying the missions once they reach orbit. Alongside that, I'm finishing an M.S. in Computer Science at Georgia Tech, concentrating in artificial intelligence.
I started out at the University of Windsor, where I founded WinSAT, the school's first CubeSat team, and led a group of undergrad and grad students in building a 3U CubeSat that won the Canadian Satellite Design Challenge. My research there covered reaction wheel fault detection and recovery using ensemble machine learning. That work carried into a master's at the University of Toronto's Space Flight Laboratory, where I built the attitude determination and control system for the HawkEye 360 satellites and won the student paper competition at the Small Satellite Conference. Before that I wrote robotics dynamics software at Mujin Inc. in Tokyo, which led to two patents, and spent a summer on automotive functional safety at NVIDIA. Most recently, I spent three years at Turion Space, taking the Droid satellites from concept to operating them in orbit.
Away from the console, I'm a Nationally Registered EMT and a PADI Rescue Diver, with training in wilderness and emergency medicine. I serve as an Aerospace Education Officer with the Civil Air Patrol, teaching cadets rocketry and electronics, and I run the speaker program for the AIAA Orange County section. The rest of the time, I'm usually snowboarding, diving, or building something on the side.
